The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 大小威的故事太过传奇，怎么拍都会好看。也因为家喻户晓，选取父亲做主角是一个很不错的点子，有新鲜感。
很平平无奇的传记片，威尔就像那种最普通的父亲，拼了老命一直给孩子提供各种可能性。
更好的背景故事，基本雷同的情节设置，好莱坞拍出来就一股流水线的味道，不如摔爸，远甚。
从题材和故事上来说，看过《摔跤吧！爸爸》之后，对本片就没什么感觉了
精彩的故事，就是可惜电影哪怕有两个半小时，对这种传奇故事来说还是太短了。父母两个角色的刻画都非常优秀，父亲自然不用说，能获奖就说明了大家的认可。母亲的角色刻画也是非常优秀，虽然戏份不多，但少数的几次爆发都展现出了她的性格、能力和视野。
大小威从成长经历到职业成就都足够传奇了。7.5/10
体育或者传记片本来就容易扑，这部体育人物的传记片，隐隐约约就是最无聊最公式的那一种。
像滨口龙介那样开始（ Drive My Car的手语🤚），像李沧东那样结束（Peppermint Candy的小白花❀）。
中规中矩的体育励志电影，但是确实是威尔史密斯的个人秀。

个人评价：
7/10。比起King Richard，其实叫Despot Richard可能更符合片子的调性：对跨越阶层的名利和成功毫不掩饰地推崇，对竞技体育带来的种族平权毫不吝惜地赞美，顺便把价值判断的权利留给了观众。剧本挺厚实，Will Smith又一次扮演了一个伟大父亲角色，标准的冲奖季电影。
Will Smith演得太好了，密謀精算的父親，很聽話的女兒，那種衝破命運枷鎖的頑強卻又害怕成為殉道者，以及面對首個失敗作結的傳奇。
振奋人心的作品，台词写的太棒了，好多场精彩的冲突，剧本真是太扎实了。不过很明显这部电影的侧重如它的名字一样是在史密斯扮演的父亲身上。先学会做人，然后再去做名人！
5，美式主旋律质感，威尔史密斯唯一演的好的地方大概是那种中年男人的讨厌感。

一部传记片都可以被说成是非主流、父权、奥斯卡奖阴谋，救命。
父凭女贵，开始还以为是大小威的传记，结果是父亲的传记，过于啰嗦……
