The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 作为2016年看过Ben Platt现场的人，能坚持完137分钟全靠情怀和sing-along... 音乐剧改编成电影需要解决的首要问题就是演唱片段如何自然不突兀，以及如何充实情节，让故事不会过于单薄。从这个意义上来说，本片是完全失败的。编剧就是音乐剧编剧本人，显然缺乏重新审视故事的勇气和魄力，想当然的加了一个故事线（表面外向实则默默承受抑郁症的女孩），砍掉一首人物歌曲（Cornor父亲的棒球手套），却没有能解决原剧中就比较明显的结尾问题，导致整部电影节奏混乱拖沓，多个场面极度尴尬，白瞎了一众戏骨。不过这部电影让人惊叹于肌肉记忆的持久，过去了这么多年，Ben早从青少年长成了成年人，唱起那些歌的表情，呼吸的位置和手势都跟当年在舞台上分毫不差...

水土不服，加的两首歌还行，实在是看不懂conner一家人的表演，很多地方情绪都没到呢，就开始说词。整体就是不够细腻，音乐剧因为有气氛撑着，而且很明确故事的主线就是evan的成长故事，但是电影…就情节剪的有点破裂了…特别是妈妈那个，good for you直接删了，导致后面催泪歌效果大减；影片想让conner这个角色合理化，但到最后我还是不知道他为什么突然自杀。就是说太多了，最后谁也没起来，如果拍成电视剧会不会细腻一些？ （btw：Zoe演员太像末了日里的Alyssa了，生气的模样都好像🥲
伪white lies剧本，开头觉得切入点ok，但是后面无法共情，从接近Zoe开始
对音乐剧粉而言，可能唯一出彩的地方就是把假想中的Conner和Evan相处的片段拍了一小段出来吧，但比起音乐剧版，电影版无论是情感渲染还是剧情推动，真的逊色太多了，更加做实了有些优秀的音乐剧其实根本就不适合被改编拍成电影
单独看一些情节是很打动人的，但是不知道为什么整体感觉有点弱。远没有剧带给我的浓烈的情绪。

演技一般，没有舞台，剧情串连也感到一般...但是至少歌很好听呀～
没看过原版音乐剧，电影的话感觉高开低走了，第一首歌太好听了，后面也只有妈妈的歌比较惊艳，剧情也是，后面走向不太行。感叹一下AA也到了演别人母亲的年纪了……我觉得我这应该能和剧情共鸣的，歌也是喜欢的，可能电影没拍好吧，没那么强烈的喜欢……
属于那种我第一首歌哭最后一首歌也哭的电影。边演边唱那个表情就情感到位，很喜欢；电影画面做出来了许多音乐剧现场出不来的画面（爬树,太阳的温度etc），超喜欢。甚至对于剪掉两首表达了家长情感的歌剪掉加上妹子的原创曲这点也让我当做是为了推防止自杀这一主题觉得很合理，接受良好。最后的原创曲我更加是感谢制作，因为电影补了康纳本人的形象，这点比音乐剧会显得更加圆满，就很温柔，很喜欢。
在看了the politician后才明显注意到 Ben Platt 老了很多。。even too old to be Evan Hansen.
哎和broadway 体验差很多，删了开头的mom song和后面Connor’s dad的glove song，把president女孩的性格完全改了，family friend也不讨喜，改编的不好，选角也都不好，节奏也比较拖拉，broadway才是最好的体验

看完剧再看电影就是水土不服 不过小本实力毋庸置疑就是了
因为看到推荐，抱着极高的期望去看这部电影的，但是不知道改编有问题还是怎么样，整体看下来觉得有一些尴尬。男主的不讨喜甚至让人觉得他是自作自受，失去了原本故事应该想要表达的意义。之后希望能看一下音乐剧，来扭转我对这部音乐剧作品的偏见吧

后半剧情改得更流畅一点了，但是全程还是很MVhhhhh，so big so small的时候还是哭得稀里哗啦，加的歌也蛮好听的，所以，啥时候出官摄啊🥺
把舞台剧改编成歌舞片needs more than that :/ 虽然我本来就不喜欢You will be found，但电影如此叙事除了Alana加了分 几乎所有人都多少失去了原本讨喜的角色光彩，太隔应了
前面情感铺垫不够，感觉有点生硬，整个剧情又太长没有必要.不过居然还惊现校友哈哈哈哈
