The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 原版还是更拽着人一刻都没有出戏；这个呢，不知道是不是有原版打底，怎么都进不去。
吉伦哈尔的演技真的厉害，但是剧情上的单调是不足以用演技去弥补的。
我先开始还怀疑这一切是真是假，就一直在想男主经历了什么，发生了什么。最后结果真的好意外！反正完全不是我想的那个方向。好喜欢看这种成本比较少，然后差不多一个人的镜头，场景也就这些。就氛围营造的很好，很惊悚。但是全篇没有恶心的东西出现，没有血腥，只简简单单讲一个故事。这个和“Calls”差不多。那个也很好看，只有声音。这部电影胆小的可以放心入。
失望。男主表演很好，但是从头到尾都是他一个人表演，都是对话，这是文艺片。没啥好看。

杰克吉伦哈尔贡献了一场精彩的，让人动容的表演。
没有看过丹麦原版，单就美国版而言，以《致命呼叫》的视角，用《活埋》的拍摄手法，将摄影机牢牢的固定在吉伦哈尔身上，成就了吉伦哈尔的一次独角戏。吉伦哈尔前半段的表现尚可，后半段有些用力过猛，表演太满没有留白，看的有些疲惫。而且主线案子结束之后，电影迟迟没有收尾，也显得有些啰嗦。最关键的问题在于，此类型影片已经拍过很多，无论《活埋》还是《恐怖直播》、《狙击电话亭》最后都是带着生死一线的高潮感的，本片主线案子收尾的过于草率，紧张感不足。勉强及格。
这片子剧本感这么强都能演得这么沉浸
JG一人撑下整个场面，如果不看原版，似乎可以称作震撼了。一番有惊无险的911 call，教会了我们不要先入为主，不要急于求成，也不要逃避自己的过错和责任。它是属于电影的思想实验，也是给我们每个人的警钟。

男主这个暴躁性格真的拉低了很多观感 再加上剪辑和一些设定 好家伙 我在电影前十分钟就开始烦躁起来 到后面听那些无意义的对话和情绪声 以及这毫无新意的拉满结尾 真的觉得索然无味全无好感。
低成本电影的天花板（源于我那糟糕的记忆力（确实想不起其他类似的极低成本单场景又拉满一整部作品的电影啦
类似911接线的电影已经有不少了，这一部加了接线员自己的罪过，画蛇添足
距离原版还有有差距，演技无懈可击，剧本过于简单空洞，翻拍没有新意
不及原版，杰克吉伦哈尔全程表演过火，输出靠吼。
期待了半天Ethan出现结果从头到尾都没有露脸 有点the call的意思 男主优秀的情绪表演和自身的悬疑性还是很精彩抓人的 但这种完全的台词电影 看着还是会有点疲惫

我可太喜欢看老吉演戏了！！剧情不行全靠演技！！还有他的睫毛怎么那么长！！
太压抑了。。。看着都要喘不过气来（偏偏在今天选了这部片子补），有好多没必要的细节，反正一切都是为了烘托情绪吧。表演挺拼的，但不是Jake的最好水平（和夜行者差远了），约莫又是爸爸一贯的根据casting来定基调和改内容的模式
