The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. y1s1 教堂景做得不错。谢霆锋可能身上的块是不如甄子丹，所以每次肉搏都穿着衣服…谭耀文！！让刚复习完壹号皇庭的我情何以堪。阿安肯定没有打botox…剧情就不说了…来看老邦瓜的为什么要看剧情…
才发现竟然没有标记。。。每年能有一部这个水平的动作片是多么的幸运
中规中矩，不过不失。演员魅力大于剧情及动作。
衣不如新，人不如旧。
好像hk的黑恶势力已经没有机会在银幕上与警察系统抗衡了，所以最近这些年特区员警都在忙着抓黑警以及与系统培养出来的、因受委屈而变心的ex精英谈心……小谢有几个镜头实在是帅到鼻血，不会做菜的CEO不是好演员……最后的问题很有意思，如果当初两个人的任务互换，命运会不会因此而不同？
剧情太弱了。文戏大量缺失，人物心理刻画比较浅。
香港的警匪片真的百年老字号了，还是熟悉的配方，还是从前的味道，男神竟然都不会老，一撮新料都没有，一锅老汤三代人，传统手艺，香港非物质文化遗产，NB
还念陈木胜吧，至少在商业线上他也是个用心在制作的人。谢霆锋的打戏让人眼睛一亮，底线的抬高，使得双雄对决的动作质量有了保障。剧本有瑕疵，蒙受冤屈入狱五年，会让人癫狂到如此地步么？行事的高调甚至觉得谢霆锋这帮人每时每刻都是在要用自己的性命来报复，甚至这报复已经无底线？感觉有点过，不像是入狱5年，而是被屠全家，才会有这样的表现。当然，抛开这一人物设定，演员表演都过关。涉及体制内的灰色，也增加了一份剧情的回味力度。
它就是当“香港”“警匪”“动作”这三个词放在一起时，一部电影该有的样子。
3.5.谢霆锋最后的问题我觉得刘德华在拆弹专家2里某种意义上已经做了呼应，弃子始终是弃子，社畜应该会更有代入感吧。剧情比较简单直接，结构上插叙补充反派背景几乎成了最大的亮点，而反派复仇设计感挺缺乏的。打斗场面虽然充裕，但是甄子丹这种小强式打不伤（都不是打不死）的特质，让我的观影极其难受，甚至觉得这种中二的做法削弱了故事的悲壮性。
行活不错，剧情太predictable，谢霆锋演技比十年前更烂了。打的还是很带劲的，就是这办案风格和我刚看的Forensic Files真是迥异
剧情就那么回事吧，看过之后能记住的就是这么多年，谢霆锋好像没有老，还是那么帅，以致抢了甄子丹风头。
教堂中的圣象注视一场审判将至，可一但接受了“如果那天是你”的最终发问，好似内在逻辑就已接受了执法者在形式所迫下可以使用暴力的设定。借人物黑化揭示被盘剥拉扯的人性困境的前提，依旧是角色的行为动机值得共情，这一点邱礼涛明显更胜一筹。
全程无尿点，节奏把握炉火纯青，谢霆锋的打戏看的太过瘾了，这么多年还是帅的人神魂颠倒。阿敖和邦主一个不遵守规则越界杀人，一个太过死板不懂变通把兄弟送进监狱。剧情虽然简单老套，但把作文模版运用的炉火纯青我还是会选择给高分，可看性很高，很精彩。谢霆锋最后在教堂选择自裁在天使雕像上，说着认输但不认命的宣言，我心里已经完全为反派倾倒了。但可惜，人们也许更接受政治正确，主角终究不是哥谭小丑
邱刚敖你这四年是在牢里受了多么大的委屈啊！！！出来恨不得杀掉所有人，张崇邦你就算坚持了正义难道不能打个招呼照顾牢里的兄弟嘛？打戏，场面没话说，谢霆锋是真他娘帅啊，甄子丹拳拳到肉劲使对了，就是编剧剧情张力要是更让人信服就完美了。不管怎么说，陈木胜导演遗作还是很给力!不虚此行，今天满足了。
想要那个挂工牌的绳绳。。香港警队应该关爱一下在职人员的心理健康问题啊 不然黑化了对社会危害好大。。
近年来香港难得的好片子了，演员，故事，渲染，都是近年来的顶级了，可能现如今香港最棒的演员对手戏了，能想到，能看到的香港电影的影子都在这部里完美体现了，除了感叹好久没有看到这么爆爽的片子外，也感叹这些年香港电影力作真的很难见到。
延续了《冲锋队之怒火街头》和《新警察故事》里警匪对立的癫狂，这种不计代价的惨烈一直是港片的优势，能给观众传递出痛感，一些近身肉搏尤甚。文戏上也做到了给主角注入灰色属性，上级成了背信弃义的代名词，权贵更是鼠目小人的嘴脸，谢霆锋的正邪转换多少夹带些无奈，而这个角色也和警察故事里的吴彦祖一样成为了令人印象深刻的反派。
