相比月光光和德州的requal(学到了这个新词)，这部对于系列第一部表达了极大的尊重，主题延续并第一次在系列中明确强调了对身边所有人的怀疑，这种谁都可能是凶手的猜忌才是惊声尖叫的恐怖核心，而不是一惊一乍的鬼脸杀手。对恐怖片的调侃也与时俱进。
