The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 我还是喜欢不起来小李这种抖动的神经病人设。基本上这两年能讽刺的都讽刺了，甚至那个傻商人都有点像拜登这个二逼，还有梅姨演的特朗普不错。人自黑拍的，有的人就非要抖机灵带一带自己，只能说恶心。
目前点开两次了，都没看完… 类似HBO的喜剧，苦丧之中的笑话，不想走心了，生活已经够难了。
地球毁灭的危机当头下，新闻政客、社交媒体、短视频、奶头乐……一环套一环的愚蠢，荒诞喜剧，如同疫情期间的世界。电影讽刺面宽泛但缺乏力度。跳剪不错，把节奏剪出来了。

整体还行吧。大家能看出纪实，反而不犀利了。我比较喜欢“白宫零食”那段，简单而切中要害。

6.0/10。观看体验并不愉快，不是影片造成的，是它映射了太多我们在现实中正经历的磨难，与此同时却又完全不留存一丝希望。它述说的苦难离我们太近，它给予的光芒又几乎没有。彗星撞地球以及更多具有灾难片标签的电影一直以来都在以其幻想——人类战胜自然——满足人类内心超越平凡的欲望。不过现在电影的造梦属性停止了，被Meta、政治和这个疫情折磨得精疲力尽的人们终于能在这里平静地迎接世界末日的到来了。这种意义上来说，电影里的人们是幸福的，至少他们不必再煎熬地存活于世了。技术上说，这部电影还是太美国了。高情商的说法是它找准了自己的主要受众群体美国观众，低情商的表述就是政治游戏和科技生活局限了美国电影对更广阔世界的审视也限制了其对更宏大问题的思考。不过想点好的，人类依旧能戏谑自己，也就意味着灵魂依旧没有消逝。
新冠背景下的嘲讽与反思。最后结论是，其实我们该有的都有了。
极具讽刺意味的黑色幽默，贴合近2年的世界实事动向。当年鲁迅说国人麻木不仁，百年后，连美国人也意识到了麻木不仁带来的危害和本身的可笑。

全片充满了自以为是的美国中心主义，甚至盖过了自身的讽刺对象。剧本的硬伤太多，对科学的曲解，对戏剧性的过分追求，都导致现实部分的可信度大大降低。往好了讲，可能是作者想讽刺的内容太多了。可惜更可能的是创作者能力过于不足了。
Is this science peer-reviewed? 地球的灭亡告诉我们没有peer-review的科学不是好科学！荒诞和合理的共存是剧本的美妙所在，尤其是电影中刻画的现实世界无比贴近真实更显讽刺。只是结尾略为无聊了一点。（以及，我感觉那个科技大亨的角色应该搞成模仿elon musk更合理，他在我脑子里就是会干出这种事的人）
讽刺了政客的虚伪表演商人的自大冷酷主持人的矫揉造作艺人的狗血爱情……晚餐那一幕挺温情，“无力阻止团灭”小分队和家人聚在一起，努力坦然迎接地球人团灭的命运。首富不是说教授会死的孤零零的吗，咱偏不。以为你逃到外星球就能活下去吗？哈哈，也有惊喜等着你。梅姨这角色真是让人忍俊不禁，一人把民主党共和党那两位全演了，哈哈哈。
放低期待后来看感觉也还可以接受，政治讽刺的冷幽默是在的，有几处还是让我笑出声了。顺带一提的性别讽刺也有点意思，celebrate the man, blame the woman, so classic, huh? 片子是真·大牌云集，万万没想到还(又)有Chris Evans客串，这位大哥是客串上瘾了吗😂不过看到结尾内心最大的感受是：在2021年有彗星撞地球，还有这种好事？
稀碎无聊的剧情硬塞了两个半小时，所谓的黑色讽刺与幽默也没有什么特别的艺术表现力，缭乱的快速剪辑也只是给老牛拉车的节奏增添了几分烦躁感而已。有一点倒是比较讽刺，那就是在国内，能让大牌巨星聚的这样齐的话也只有歌唱正能量主旋律的时候了
