For 27-year-old Ben (Josh Lawson), life couldn’t be better. A well paid job, friends, parties, girls and nothing to tie him down. But when he is invited back to his old school to join several other ex-students including Alex (Rachael Taylor) and Jim (Ed Kavalee) in talking about their personal achievements, something goes wrong. Ben is the only speaker not to be asked a question by the school kids. This triggers a year of soulsearching and looking for answers in all the wrong places.
From his best friend Andy (Christian Clark) whose solution is that they both take another holiday, to his mentor Sam (Lachy Hulme) who loans him a sports car in the belief that there’s nothing like excessive speed to resolve emotional turmoil. Not even Ben’s father (Rob Carlton) or friends Nick (Daniel Henshall) and Em (Felicity Ward) can offer much in the way of meaningful guidance.
Of course, it’s not easy seeking enlightenment in nightclubs, or on the ski fields of New Zealand, and when you start dating a Russian tennis star things can get really complicated. As the poster boy for a generation desperate to tick every box, Ben begins to suspect that the meaning of life may well reside in the things he's already doing - and a girl he used to know.
剧作完整，结构工整，表达准确。单项看提供的都是正确选项。但放在一起做为一个两个半小时的电影，也因为各项的准确变得沉闷乏味。当然zhengzhi意义上的东西另说哈。
剧本稳中带燃，演员各有亮点，借古喻今但当下民意会不会比当初更加割裂？80

以911为背景，讲述发生紧急事件后“幸存者”的体验与故事。角色塑造的大多比较丰满，印象最深刻的是女机长的故事。整个舞美、故事情节、服化道都做的不错，能感受到每一位演员为这个音乐剧付出的努力。
莫须有罪政治作秀，两人凑数一人堵嘴；对抗父权只需扛棍棒，种族平等随时赔性命；花天酒地一镜之隔，警徽摘除暴力升级；和理非勇武不割席，“让我们的血流遍整座城”，回归述求阵亡名单……索金这剧本找导演拍找了十多年，终于在最贴合现实的时候自己上阵把片子拍出来了，可喜可贺
真好看。Aaron Sorkin写了这么好的剧本，然后找了些英国演员来挑大梁。Mark Rylance，Eddie和Sacha Baron Cohen都太棒了。
The whole world is watching。年度十佳预定，明年奥斯卡大概率会在剧本、剪辑上有所建树。亚伦索金拿出了教科书级别的对白驱动型剧作，金句频出，节奏极强，两段冲突的交叉剪辑非常厉害，最后段落重现《辩护人》的激动人心，虽然煽情但有用。最喜欢艾比霍夫曼这个角色，也是全片演员发挥最好的一个。
是什么造成这次冲突的？是我们的血。摘下警徽和编号的警察半个世纪后还能复刻的。结合在这片土地发生的事情真的太感触了……全世界都在看着，那个岛起码还能看到吧，这片土地的深处就看不到了，甚至没有审判。法庭上的博弈也好，律师激辩也好，联邦巡回法院的驳回也好，这个题材和这部电影本身也好，美国为什么是灯塔的所有理由。
“With the trial starting, it might get easy to forget who this is about” 当这个审判开始后，我们很容易失去方向，忘记我们最初的目的。结局小雀斑在法庭上念出那五千名在越南牺牲的士兵名字时，是个不忘初心的故事。
米国主旋律，索金台词和剪辑设计的挺好，导的就比较平庸。Sacha人设最讨喜，Frank Langella的法官演得最好，小雀斑挺拉胯。
用一场60年代的庭审戏借古讽今，各种因素仿佛一种昨日重现般一一对应。工整、扎实的剧本+精巧的剪辑，将庭审内外与每次开庭的前情提要巧妙穿插。

Important film at a critical time
无与伦比。完美的舞台剧。
Aaron Sorkin的剧本一如既往的精彩，看得我热血沸腾，庭审辩论和游行闪回间的转接如行云流水，这剪辑也太强了！结尾有种虽败犹荣的自豪感，看着Tom Hayden念名字的时候，我禁不住落泪。这片子正好在2020年上映，也是独具时代意义的。
叙述方法比较朴实，如树桩生火慢燃，前期烟很浓，等到多线叙事之后，明火熊起，屡屡有爆响，但又一直沉稳不漾。这个剧本经纬密集，看的就是其繁复不乱有风的微观细节，真是以秒来计，操劳两小时的活计。
4.5 I think the institutions of our democracy are wonderful things
编剧相当扎实，两位脱口秀演员增加了不少娱乐性，穿法袍那段爆笑如雷。法官塑造是不是太纸面化了，真的是个倔强的老痴呆，只会敲榔头，也想动手扇他。
此时此刻放出来目的性很强的电影，但我真的被这群充满理想的学生感动到了，而我们什么时候才可以反战，不要再用向我开炮的逻辑拍电影了呢，我们是否应该铭记“人”，而不是让他们成为集体的颂歌？
