Arkham, 1975: Jonathan Davis' father has disappeared. His tracks lead to Germany, to the Swabian-Franconian Forest where he was stationed after the Second World War. brutashell review - 'Filmed in black and white and primarily spoken in German, it is obvious that Die Farbe did not have a huge budget to work with. Effects are minimal and the cast is utterly unknown. I should point out that these are all good things, and work very much in the film's favour. There is no CGI to rely on, no name actors to carry it. Rather, the filmmakers do the unthinkable: they create a genuine atmosphere of unimaginable dread and unspeakable horror, using shadow, suggestion and rare splashes of that Nameless colour in a few select frames. In short, they did a damn good job. Die Farbe is subtle in its mounting horror, nurturing a dark dread deep in your bowels with every shot. All of the best and most stomach-turningly distressing films I’ve ever seen have come out of Germany: M, The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, The White Ribbon, and now this one. Leave it to the Germans. We know how to gross you out on the deepest psychological levels.
Lovecraft worshippers and devotees of German Expressionism alike, take heed: seek out and view this film at your earliest possible convenience. It’s a dark, noisome little gem that will squirm into your subconscious and lay its eggs in your sanity. Hey, not everyone gets the honour of being a host organism for the Elder Gods, you know.'
救赎题材，拍得很克制，一切点到为止，略闷。
讲自我救赎的公路片，男主角的人设细节设计的很好，剧情拍的太平淡了，观感有点闷
三星半。有种有意为之的松散，似乎映照的是角色的心理感受
可惜的是，畸变的画面将创伤展现得很好，理解和爱的说服力则没那么强。
没有那么差，但是本来以为是什么酷酷的赌博电影结果看到一半才发现是要救赎温情，前面半个小时真挺不知所云的，而且算牌扑克和审讯ptsd两条线好割裂。
保罗施拉德放弃了能令人兴奋的一切。牌局高潮，血肉搏杀，哪怕短暂的性爱都是浮云般而过。他所专注在的，永远是过往人们难以遗忘的罪孽与伤痕。于是人们喃喃自语，封锁内心，幻想通过救赎他人来得到宽恕。他剧本中的人物永远将破碎的心藏在一个光鲜的残存外表之下，绝望地在这末世之中建立自己的救赎。
Schrader donne ici une masterclass de comment filmer le vide en plaçant au centre de son film une figure évidée incarnée majestueusement par un Oscar Isaac glacial au visage presque figé inexpressif. Comme un fantôme du passé traumatisant qui hante le présent, le héro ne cesse d'errer dans des lieux publics impersonnels ambiancés par une mise en scène sèche et sidérante. Conte cruel dans une Amérique sans échappatoire ni rédemption possible.
整个事件就是环环相扣的系统性悲剧，看得令人无力。本来其实拍得很好，前半段的视听效果什么的都非常厉害，即trippy也让人好几次想起出租车司机。但是后劲无力，编入俗了，从某一个配乐很好的桥段开始慢慢走上了下坡路。男主角基本上独角戏吧，演得虽然看得出用力但是很优秀，男二不太行（又或许演太好？），完全没有什么存在感。想给四星但是扣一扣，因为女性角色都是工具人。
Great story, 同时有一些让人毛骨悚然的细节(USA!)。质感层面实在太糟糕了，基本在保全故事角色和美学制作上只取其一，拜托谁去再给他点钱（和时间）吧！
AMC 谜之故事，谜之摄影，谜之配乐，最谜的还是感情戏和女主的服装，怀疑造型师把所有精力都放在了Isaac身上了。
第一部施拉德，非常老派的拍摄风格却能做到引人入胜的效果，对各种元素进行各种沉着冷静的处理。多处鱼眼视角下的景深镜头将试图存封的回忆以梦境的形式呈现，是对秘密不断挖掘的非常奇特的人感官体验，对固有体制的嘲讽与怒吼，每个人既是残忍的施暴者，也是深受痛苦的施虐者，这种作品中所树立的算牌人角色，并没有将大量的文本笔墨放在桌牌之间的抗衡，而是作为迷人眼眸的支线不断摄入冰冷的真相，毕竟对于如此浮躁的好莱坞商业市场，施拉德简直就是不可多得的瑰宝了。
除了回忆中扭曲的监狱还令人耳目一新外，其他部分实在是不行……开头的气势让我以为他有什么惊天大计划，没想到最后变成失足少年拯救片。
虽然我挺困的，是真困了，但是电影还是好看的，强撑着睡意看完了。
这是在干什么？赌博和救赎（或是复仇）两条线之间看不出任何关联的地方 唯一一场还不错的戏就是具体表现玩德扑的紧张局势的那一幕了 （奥依旧好好看
不愧是写出出租车司机这样经典character study的大师！自我救赎的焦灼作为他永恒的命题，放在今日，依旧不过时，尤其是那几个主观广角镜头，真的能把人看得如痴如醉。
调和后静置，再倾斜。片中对''tilt''的简述是最长精神的：单词的泛用解释是''倾斜''，在德扑中是''生气/兴奋后乱出牌''，也是''由于人性必然有弱点，所以不可能不发生''的专业术语。非常好，领观众出游，''you can tilt.''
同茨威格的《象棋的故事》一样，你以为在讲技艺，其实在讲对人性的屠杀。这么好的题材，怎么拍得跟赌圣一个样？
两段扭曲的鱼眼镜头加分，可惜的是后来电影跟德州扑克没啥关系了，我就是来看德扑的啊

本子太糟了。起初镜头带来的游离感被Tye的引入逐渐消解得了无踪影，随之叙事也被感情戏彻底打乱阵脚；盯着奥斯卡的脸撑完了后半部分。
