The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 剧情有点槽点满满哈！不过她们的青春时期还是挺美好遗憾的，最后还是哭了🥲。谈善言好姬呀！！既然香港这题材没被限得死死的，能不能多拍拍les片呀！！！雨中激吻那里真的好好看！配上那个配乐真的升华了！

补一句不正经的评价：麦家琪演这样一个妈就离谱…
整部片子情节没什么亮点，道尽了亚洲女同的处境，是大胆。很讽刺，刚看完《侧耳倾听》还赞美青春的感情促使人变得更好。额，其实这也是一种美好，只是遗憾的美好。两个主人公选择了两条人生，无论怎样，希望所有人能坚持所爱，能坚持所爱的人生是幸福的人生。
很久没有看一场电影哭得如此狼狈，不过是另一个版本的青春片，无法说出口的爱永远最让人难过
全靠两女主演技撑起来，爸爸们的对手戏很有代入感，其他乏善可陈。

對經歷過的人確實共情，就這份共情已經夠5星了！不是嗎？
虽然是一部讲同性的影片 但看到最后感受到的却是纯粹的爱情 无关性别~ 学生时代的相恋不管同性异性 都不会被认可 所幸的是影片中的父母都比较开明 并没有粗暴的干涉~ 只是T的那位家境优渥 她的心里只因爱情而苦恼 而P的那位家庭比较困难 她需要在爱情和生活中挣扎~ T总体来说性格不太成熟 但她转学电影那段还是感人的 表露了她的真情 能勇敢努力地讲述她们的故事~ P作为客体出现 主视角看不到她的真实情感 但到最后婚礼的那场戏 一系列的细节都展现出她深藏的真情 非常感人🥺 影片让人感叹年少时逝去的爱情 也许这也正是不成熟的我们必然要经历的过程 只希望以后成熟的我们可以用更好的方式 为孩子留一个美好的青春吧~

演员演技还不错，加一星。前20分钟过于碎片化拍得像MV+中学时期全程柔光我忍了，闹分手恋爱脑跑到操场在全校面前接吻也没什么问题。但杨偲泳听谈善言读悔过书“感到可耻……并无亲密关系”就撕烂悔过书并转学，我就看不懂了。两个人都敢做出如此行为，为什么你们之间的感情信任是这么岌岌可危？那你自己写的悔过书又是什么内容？如果是准备上去反抗学校，那前面和爸爸的谈话后决定和谈善言断绝来往的个人成长点逻辑不成立。如果也是准备读悔过书，那这是在干什么.jpg

香不知道是否对港女标签化印象 总觉得香港青春片拍得硬邦邦的
拍的还可以啦，但是两个人的感情确实超出我的理解范围了，怎么那么别扭呢……
点解d糖果高光磨皮增亮滤镜全部传到去香港了，，，救命 这个高饱和度画面真的和香港电影风格完全不搭

不喜欢芯这个角色，一开始也是你去撩人家，分手的也是你，失踪的也是你，先恋爱的也是你，爸爸死了第一个找人家的也是你，可就不愿意再次接受。。
就算是只是爱情片，也太差了，女二演技很不错，像很多清纯系的mix，以后应该能不错吧。
虽然只有三星，但推荐观看。优点是情节细腻，雨中吻虽然中二，但是感人。缺点是动机铺陈不够，后半段略生硬，两位女演员演技也有点生涩。
